‘From the Ground Up’ is a project created by James Noakes from Sydney menswear label Mere Footwear, aiming to increase awareness of the homeless situation in Sydney, and raise some much needed funds for Youth Off The Streets.  In doing so, he hopes to assist in preventing this from happening to future generations.

Mere engaged The Whole Creative to assist in curating a 'From the Ground Up' art exhibition (which featured 30 Australian Artists), and also organise the opening night event and assist with promotion of the project.  For several weeks prior to the show,  Mere Footwear spent time on the streets of Sydney with photographer Rob Domjen, aiming to capture what life was like for people with nowhere to call home. They took sturdy duffle bags filled with warm clothing and basic necessities, and gave them to the people who they met.  Photographs, interviews and words of advice were all compiled into a 'From the Ground Up' book, which was sold throughout the art exhibition. All proceeds from sales of the book and art, went directly to Youth Off the Streets.

Opening night of the exhibition was incredible, with a huge turnout, lots of art and books sold, and great music.

Thanks to District 01 Surry Hills, Bespoke PR, Vale Ale, Cake Wines and Eat Art Truck for supporting this fantastic event and project.
